My Story
Stress has been on the rise over the last few years..Maybe it's covid.
Maybe it's our changing world…But we are all experiencing stress… you are, your coworkers, your boss, your family, your neighbor, the cashier at the grocery store, and even athletes like Simon Biles, and legendary country singer Naomi Judd have had to deal with stress…
Stress is not a stigma but it is something that we should be talking about and working on every day. My early career was with an international nonprofit leading their fund-raising efforts. This was a highly stressful job – I worked with volunteers based on THEIR schedule which meant early morning, daytime, and evening meetings. This was not a typical 9-5 job. After a few years, as a new mother, I felt like a human octopus being pulled in many different directions. As a result, I decided to take a step back and review my personal and professional priorities. I scaled back my work hours but stayed involved as a volunteer for over 25 years.
Even as a volunteer, I was constantly on the go - supporting my husband’s growing law career, overseeing my daughters’ busy extra-curricular activities, and starting a growing coaching career. While I loved my work, I felt the pressure of long stressful days. I was exhausted. I knew I needed to make some changes. This led me to research methods that I could use to help mitigate my stress level and improve my total happiness.
While taking a course on workplace wellness, I met Dr. James Petersen, founder of Stressmaster International. Through Dr Petersen, I learned that by identifying our stressors, we can not only manage our stress, but we can MASTER our stress. Many people wear stress like a medal around their neck – saying “I am so busy; I am so stressed”. While stress is normal, it needs to be taken seriously.
As a Certified Stress Master Associate, I guide clients through the tools of the Stressmastery Program to help people under stress learn how to reduce and master chronic stress both on and off the job. The results will be improved health, better work quality, greater creativity, improved interpersonal relationships and an enhanced quality of life.
I have been involved with health and wellness for many years.
Through my various certification courses, I have created multifaceted programs concentrating on helping employees and their families to Shape Up, Slim Down, Stress Less, Sleep More. This is a wholistic and a holistic approach to our health – our health and wellness is more than just food and exercise – we need to examine our social, financial, spiritual, emotional, mental wellbeing.
